Bearings, Snap-rings and Seals

Bearing life is affected by a plethora of factors. Most Scott Mixers Use sealed for life bearings to reduce the downtime for preventative maintenance.

Shaft stress is a major factor in bearing wear. If you have a shaft running straight and true you will limit the stress (and therefor heat) going into the bearing. We can help you by straightening your mixer shaft when we replace your bearings.

Bearings are installed with an interference fit and require special handling. We heat the inner race of the bearing before install on any shaft. We also heat the bering housing to insure that we do not gall or damage the mixer shaft or bearings during install. If you aren't using heat to install your bearings they are likely wearing out pre-maturely.
